Weekend Update

This week we got our first "blow-able" snow of the season.
My driveway all cleared out.
The deck, showing about four inches of snow.
Front of the house showing all the snow.

This week the "Little One" and I made a pecan pie.
Kate said she had a taste for one.
The "Little One" watching me mix up the ingredients.
Ready to go into the oven
All done ready to eat.  We ate the whole thing up in one night, bad on us!!!

Midweek Update

Last weekend, Liz and I went to the Minnesota Orchestra at the new venue.

Next year it will be held at the Convention Center instead of Orchestra Hall.
I took some pictures of the Auditorium at the Convention Center.
An overall view, this is the 'nose bleed' section.

Sunday the temperatures were very pleasant.
It has been an excellent winter, thank goodness for Global Warming.

Last week the "Little One" and I made oatmeal cookies.

He is a genius.

Weekend Update

This week the "Little One" and I made a cake.
I wanted to make cup cakes but I didn't have any of the little paper cups for the muffin pan.
Instead I made a "bunt" cake.
It turned out OK but I used a Pecan-coconut frosting that I didn't really like.  Oh well, live and learn.
Liz and Rosealle then stopped over for a visit.  The "Little One" was happy to see them.
 They played with some 'people'.
 Isn't that something?
 "Let's get this just right!"

I guess playing with 'people' isn't anything new.  It looks like they are the same people!!  Who is that kid anyway?

Baking Adventure

I decided at the last minute to make Kate a cake for her birthday.

I had an old "Jiffy" mix in the cupboard.
You can tell how old by the price.
I made it like the directions.
I guess it didn't turn out.  Obviously Jiffy isn't like Twinkies, it must have a shelf life!

Weekly Update.

I have been refining my cookie making technique. This week I was able to find the old mixer base that I got for a wedding present.
It is a very nice avocado color, very 70's.
T
The problem was that I couldn't find the mixing bowls that go with it.  I used one of my other mixing bowls and had to tape it on the bottom.
The "Little One" ready to cook!
Mixing up the cookie dough.  This week I made chocolate chip cookies with raisins and nuts. The recipe called for twelve oz of chocolate chips....wow that's a lot,  so I used six oz of chocolate chips and six oz of raisins.
 Having a little taste!
"Is that cookie dough all over your mouth?"
"Don't worry Grandpa, I can lick it off!"
First batch out of the oven.
The cookies all done, cooling off.
A drink and a cookie at Grandpa's house, what could be better.

It must be a windshield wiper transmission!
All installed.

Flat Tire

I went out this week to take some books back to the library only to find my bicycle had a flat tire!
I called Aunt Martha to get some tire advice.  She recommended I get not only a new tube but since my tire was worn out  to get a new tire.
After spending most of the day going from store to store looking for the best price I found a tire and tube I could afford.
It only took a couple of minutes to change it.
New tire and old tire.  The new tire, even though the size is the same, is a bit smaller than the old one.
Now I am off to the library.
