Grilled Pizza, reporting negative results

Fred and Kate are always looking for new ideas. Since it has been so hot the last few weeks here in Minnesota, we are trying to cook out on the grill as much as possible. Last week, Fred bought two pizza's from Cub for $5.00 on sale and instead of cooking them in the oven, they decided to make a Grilled Pizza Sandwich out of them.

They put extra cheese, olives, and onions on the inside then put it on the grill at low heat. Using a pizza pan to flip it when one side was brown. They had to micro-wave it to get the center cooked all the way. While we ate it, it is not an experiment we will repeat.

4th of July Celebration (Posted a little late)

The 4th of July this year was a busy day. We started out by washing the cars and doing some work in the garden.
Gerardo really likes using the power washer. Kathleen's gardens are doing pretty well and we deadheaded some flowers and did some clean up around the yard. YiYu and Kasin were both happy to have people around. (Ha Ha)

For dinner we had deep fat fried chicken, just like at KFC. Fred cooked it on the 'Turkey' cooker hooked onto his grill. That way the house does not get all smelly.

Friday Adventure, 7 July 2006

Hot, its been hot. This week it was a short drive to south of the Twin Cities to the little towns of Lydia and Jordan. We had planned to visit a winery but except for some grape vines in a field, (I didn't get a picture), we could not find where it was located. We stopped and enjoyed Cedar Lake.

On the way back home we drove through New Prague and stopped to tour the Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. It was restored in 1999 and is quite beautiful inside. And finally it was a stop at Culver's for ice cream.

Friday Adventure, 30 June 2006

We had a short adventure this week. Stopped at a park in North Minneapolis and enjoyed a view of the river then drove down to the Milwaukee Avenue Historic District.Milwaukee Avenue is the home to the most intact cluster of Late 19th century railroad worker cottages in the city. The picturesque Victorian homes were saved from demolition in the 1970's.
It seems to be the home of artists and students now. Some of the cottages are very upscale but others need some work.

On the way home, we stopped at an ice cream stand and Kathleen had an apricot ice cream cone and Fred had coconut. It was then off to Trader Joe's for some wine and then home.
