Blazer Repair

The Anti-lock brake light went on in my Blazer.  My friend, Pete, said, "You are going to have to replace the whole hub, not just the sensor."  He has a tool that reads the anti-lock brake codes, which is different from the tool to read the engine DTC's.  (diagnostic trouble codes)
He said that the left front was bad.  I bought a new hub from RockAuto and I proceeded to install it.
I had to buy a 36 mm socket and when I got it home it was too short.
I set it up in my lathe and with a great deal of effort cut it in half.
 What a project!
I then re-assembled the pieces back together using a piece of tubing.
A couple of tack welds and off came the nut.
A couple of minutes later (Ha Ha) off came the bearing hub.
As you can see, Pete was absolutely correct that the bearing had failed, the seal disintegrated and water had gotten inside the bearing.  It sounded like it was full of rocks as I turned it.
The bolts holding the bearing hub on were coated with thread locking compound and I had to remove them with an open end wrench, one flat at a time and there were a lot of threads engaged.
All back together.
