Segway Riding Lessons

A few weeks ago I posted pictures of going to the Minneapolis RV Show. I mentioned that Liz and I took Segway riding lessons. Here are some of the pictures of us riding around on the Segways.

Liz practicing.

I look about 15 years old. The instructor was right there to keep me from falling off. It was a lot of fun, maybe this summer I will go on the Minneapolis Segway tour downtown.

Spark Plug Tap

I got one of the spark plugs cross threaded on Liz's old Saturn. So I had to make a tool to chase the threads.

I bought a 14 X 1.25 MM tap and got a piece of 1/2 inch steel tubing.

The shank of the tap measured .430 inches so I drilled out the tubing to 7/16 inch diameter. I then put in a cross hole for a handle and super glued the tap into the end.

Tomorrow night I will chase out the thread and check the compression.

Winter Thaw

This past weekend we had a little thaw, the temperatures got up into the high 30's. I helped Kate paint a bedroom on Saturday and Liz brought her car over and we washed it on Sunday.

Liz's new car.

I made dinner, it was my first use of the grill of the year.

A T-bone steak with baked potatoes and a salad.

I am really looking forward to spring.

Dinner Time (Slow Blogging Week)

Liver and Onions

Fish Soup Experiment.

I browned celery and onions, added chicken broth and potatoes. After the potatoes were soft I added the clams and the Catfish pieces. I then added a cup of "half and half" just before serving.

Weekend Adventure

This past weekend Liz and I went to the Scottish Festival in St Paul. We saw dancers and bag pipes and many of the different clans had booths passing out information. It was very interesting.

Here are some young women warming up for the dance contest. No pictures were allowed during the actual dancing.

On the way home, we stopped at a statue of Liz's Great Uncle, Lief Erickson; the discoverer of America.

Of course we had to visit the capital while we were in downtown St Paul.

Kate's 30th Birthday

For Kate's 30th birthday we went to Big Bowl for dinner.

We then came back to Kate's house for cake and opening the presents.

Weekly Update

Tax time is always fun. Organizing the papers, putting the information into TurboTAX, screaming in pain when you find out the answer!!! There will be no more heat at my house for a few months and the cat will have to forage for both of us or take a chance on becoming dinner.

Liz and I went to the RV show at the convention center. Having just finished my taxes it was not as exciting as it has been in the past. We took Segway riding lessons which were fun but I didn't get any pictures. Liz has pictures in her camera and I will try to post some of them in the future.

Liz checking out a trailer. We also looked at some of the big motorhomes, some were nicer than my house.
Liz is going to drive this one home.

Minneapolis Orchestra

Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, 1/31/2008
Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis
My friend, Warren, had two tickets he couldn't use. Liz said that she was interested in going so we went. It was a very pleasant evening and we both enjoyed it very much. It was a bit cold out, but warmer than it has been.

Shivering after walking three blocks from a 'free' parking place.

Waiting to go inside the hall. There were lockers around the perimeter of the hall where people can hang up their coats. The concert was excellent. If Warren will give us more tickets we will go again.
