fred_: February 2005

One of the things I have always wanted is a steam sauna. There are three things about sauna that recommend it. The first is that it is aerobic exercise. It isn’t very good exercise but there is no heavy lifting involved either. The second thing is that it hydrates the body. The conventional wisdom is that you cook the impurities out of the body like grilling hot dogs on the barbecue. This is the wrong image. The high temperature forces the body to absorb more water, actually hydrating the tissues. You should drink as much water as possible during the sauna to help this hydration process. Just like in exercise, drinking a lot of liquid is important. The last reason, and most important, is the fact that sauna drives up the body temperature. It is actually a prophylactic fever, which will kills germs and viruses in the body. It is a controlled method to prevent colds and the flu.

Last summer I had a chance to purchase a HELO steam sauna at a good price and have working on it ever since. FH

Hi Guys! Welcome to blogland...Isn't peer pressure great? Now you've inspired Mom to come along for the ride. :) Looking forward to seeing pix of Katey & Gerardo's wedding.

Congrats on the new blog! It will be fun to see how your steam shower comes along!

Thanks, guys, for pushing me - I'll get to the picture sharing soon.

"Bok" is our pet name for each other. It started while we were still going out and our friends were calling each others boy/girlfriend "Bok." We thought that "honey" and "darling" were too cheesy then. Ed started with "sweetheart" but got into the program after a while.
