Memorial--August 25, 2006
Kathleen (Aeck) Hemker, 60, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2006 after a long struggle with breast cancer. She resided in Maple Grove since 1999 after living most of her adult life in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Kathleen was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan, June 6, 1946, the third daughter of the late Gerald Francis and Annabelle Aeck. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1965. She then spent 5 years as a member of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine—Richfield, Ohio while attending St. John’s University and Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Kathleen was a full time mother and homemaker. She married in 1972. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 34 years, Frederick Hemker of Maple Grove, MN; beloved son, Frederick Michael Hemker IV (fiance Patricia Urrutia) of Los Angeles, California; and, her beloved daughter, Kathryn Anne Hemker (husband Gerardo Molina) of Maple Grove, Minnesota. She is also survived by three sisters: Barbara Thurnham of Orlando, Florida; Phyllis Marcath (husband Earl) of Armada, Michigan; and Mary Elizabeth Aeck of San Diego, California and three brothers: Michael Aeck (wife Janet) of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; Tim Aeck (wife Bonnie) of Oakland Township, Michigan; and Patrick Aeck (wife Mickey) of Richmond, Michigan, along with many nieces and nephews.
During their marriage Kathleen and Fred opened their home to various foster children and several exchange students.
Kathleen was a wonderful wife, mother, and sister and will be sorely missed by all.
Kathleen requested that there be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
